A MAGIC RING AND LOVE SPELL

When to Perform This Spell: Saint Valentine’s Day (February 14)

What You Will Need

A piece of black paper and a silver pen

A simple silver or silver-colored ring or band with no markings. (It doesn’t have to fit your finger, because this is one ring you won’t be wearing on your hand.)

2 lengths of red silk ribbon or thread

2 bay leaves

1 willow leaf

1 rowan tree leaf (if not available, 1 piece of rose quartz)

A glass or glass bowl filled with rosewater

Christian martyr Saint Valentine healed his jailer’s daughter and, just before his execution, sent her a letter that read, “Farewell, from your Valentine.” By the medieval period, the day became associated with romance and spells were cast to ensure success in love. Magic rings have been used since then to attract love, often entwined with either the hair of the loved one or a red ribbon. For the spell to work, you must never tell that person about the talisman.

First, write the name of the one whose feelings you want to change on the piece of paper with the silver pen.

Take the ring and twine the red ribbon or thread around it until the ring is covered.

As you do so, say,

“Thrice I bind, thrice times their love for me.

Thrice I bind and thrice times thrice their ecstasy.

For with this charm they will be mine.

Not bound, but free to love in chosen time.”

Gently drop the leaves and the ring into the bowl of rosewater. Place the paper in a window, on a ledge or table nearby, to be activated by the moon.

Place the bowl of water with the ring and other ingredients upon the paper. The following evening, remove the ring. Wait for the ribbon to dry even if it takes a day or so, then thread the ring—still bound by the ribbon—onto another piece of silk cord. Wear it around your neck and say,

“Thank you, Venus, for this gift.

My love will turn, the change will be,

My love will see, then love will turn,

A heart will change and come to me.”

Wear the ring for three more days or keep it in a pouch and carry it with you. The spell will invoke change in someone’s heart, or someone will see you in a new and beautiful light.
